Wrightone's 4.0 out of 5 stars Followed the direction to the letter at least 8 times. Gave up and gave it to my daughter. 10 minutes later she had it working. You have to put a zero (0) in front of that number or it will not work. For example (01, 02,. or 09). Mine was 05. Drove me crazy. Almost returned it. Once programmed it works like a charm. It looks great, easy to program, has illuminated keys to see at night, and you can set temporary pass codes. If the battery dies, it's easy to replace and it will not lose it's programming. The only down side so far is that lid does slide completely off the unit if you aren't careful. This can be fixed by placing a screw or nail above the unit (green arrow in photo) which acts as a stopper. I used a dark screw that looks inconspicuous against the brown trim. Overall at this point, I'm happy with this purchase.

It took merely 30 seconds to have the thing paired and ready to go. The instructions can be a bit confusing though (see caveats). Caveats: -- The instruction that came with it is pretty confusing. It has a lot of opener type instructions that really aren’t relevant to this opener. Three out of four types described is of the DIP switch types, and only type 4 is the one that has the yellow button remote. It’d be helpful to skip to type 4 instructions to save yourself some confusion. The instructions are mostly for initial setup, and not a lot of operating instructions, other than entering the pin and opening the garage door. After it is recognized, the entire keypad becomes the garage opener key, so that you can press any key to open and close with around 10-12 seconds with the keypad lit constantly. None of these were described in the instructions except entering “0” after entering the PIN. -- The sliding cover is a bit stiff, which might get better over time. The issue is that if you pull up using the bottom lip facing the front, you may end up lifting the cover off completely and have it flung off to the floor. I’d recommend holding the side of the cover and sliding up, thus pressing down on the side latch preventing the cover from detaching completely. -- It requires and uses a 9V square shaped battery, which may be less common in most homes. It comes with a zinc carbon battery, or the “dry” cell, and not alkaline, for a good reason: it won’t leak. I would recommend using dry zinc carbon batteries for these openers as it is exposed to the temperature fluctuations and even possibly the sun’s heat. Alkalines do last longer if you use it very often, however. Overall we are pleased with this opener. It looks good (to us), looks and feels sturdy, very simple to operate and set up, with a very functional design. We just wished the instructions were a bit better written, but it doesn’t take away from the product’s qualities at all.

I am writing this review to help others program this thing. I spent an hour failing to program this and failed, and then about 2 minutes to do it correctly. The instructions could use some clarification. My opener is a new Liftmaster. Now do step 4, and then 5 must be done quickly, WHILE KEYS ARE STILL FLASHING. Use a single digit ID, not a double digit, i.e., 8 not 08. Now do step 6 pressing the LEARN button on the opener. When Step 7 is done, XXXX0, the opener 100 watt light will blink, signifying the opener accepted the XXXX code, and you are done. I see many comments on how this is hard to open, and my wife also complained. I pulled the cover completely off, and there are two stops in there, one to lock it in the up position, and one to lock it in the down position. It will make it much easier to open, and less likely to pull off because of the lessened force needed. Here are some impressions and opinions: Likes: -- Out of the box, the unit appears very sturdily built. The case, battery hatch, as well as the weatherproof sliding cover are all made of a very thick and cleanly molded ABS plastic. It sure looks much more expensive than we expected, as the price range is typical for basic keypad remotes of lesser built quality. -- The design is simple and straightforward, with recessed rubber numeric keys and no other confusing buttons. The rubber keypad is pretty thick with strong tactile feedback, with good spacing to prevent errors. The sliding cover really does provide very secure protection for the main electronic unit itself, covering all the opening seams. Personally I like the clean, durable and functional design. -- It comes with a 9V dry cell already installed. The description says 2AA alkaline, but it really is a 9V battery. This could be a benefit from the higher voltage setup than typical AA's. -- Simple to setup: While it's probably something common to yellow-button standard remotes, ours was pretty easy to setup.

Please try again I contacted Chamberlain for their input. I tried to program it twice while they were on the phone with me and they determined it was defective. I have since returned the item. Amazon was very accommodating with the return.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again And something went wrong for one time. Original review (5 star):Works with my craftsman opener, easy setup. Compared price with another two big hardware stores and this is much cheaper(same brand and product, for almost half the price.)Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again It was so hard to slide, I had to use a knife to pry it open. I think they took the other comments about covers sliding off to heart and have now made it too hard to even open. Bought this primarily so my elderly mother could get in through the garage but no way she'll be able slide open the cover. Returning today.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I am only docking a star because the pairing appeared to drop after 2 weeks. Not sure if this was due to non-use or other factor, but I think that for a device which is basically to allow one to open the garage from the OUTSIDE, it would make for a non-fun-filled day if you need to have access, but can't.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again After I read the instructions(imagine that) I figured out how to set it up to work with my wireless Stanley door opener. Once I programmed it it worked awesome. The old chamberlain keypad was at least 20 years old so this one is much easier on the fingers and because it's wireless I put it in a more convenient location for the family to use.I noticed another amazon buyer had trouble with reception but I have had no trouble. It did stop working briefly though so make sure you keep the reprogramming instructions handy!Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Programmed it and it worked no problems.Sorry, we failed to record your vote.

We’d recommend it, if your garage opener unit is compatible. However hours later my garage door would not open. The motor would hum but it wouldn't open. I spent over 4 hours troubleshooting, changing the open force, close force, re-programming everything, manually opened and closed the garage door, and then finally took the batteries out of the keypad. The door magically opened. I thought it couldn't possibly be the keypad and set it up again. It opened the door several times in a row and closed it without issue. The next morning my garage would not open again. I had to do a manual open to leave, when I got home I pulled the batteries, waited 20 minutes and magically my door opened again without issue.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again It feels tougher overall. Installation was VERY easy. The instructions were so straight-forward and i had it setup in a couple of minutes.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. I bought this so that my 12-year-old son could use it to get into the house every day after school. Not looking too good so far!Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Open door without being triggered. If your door starts to open by itself and if you lock it shut With the wall controller and the door stays down, this guy is the suspect. Buy a new one and replace it. Save yourself a couple of hundred bucks.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Installation was easy, however the youtube instructions by Chamberlain, although are simple and clear, can be more explicit. You have (at least on my Chamberlain garage door opener) 30 seconds after you press the coloured button on the garage door opener to enter the code on the Keypad and you will hear a confirmation beep. I didn't get that for a bit, but once solved, it works like a charm.Sorry, we failed to record your vote.

For every switch in the ON or positive position record a 1, for every switch in the OFF or negative position record a 2. Note: PIN stands for Personal Identification Number of your choice. A division of Genie of Fairview Door Co. Chamberlain makes many garage door opener mechanisms used to open your garage door automatically from inside your car or via a keypad. It is good practice to change your garage door opener code periodically to ensure only authorized people have access to your home. Allow approximately five minutes for this task. Keypad is black with a slide-up cover showing the Genie logo only ) This keyless garage door opener entry pad works with Genie transmitters using 390 MHz frequency. It is NOT compatible with Genie Intellicode transmitters (if your keypad has Intellicode printed on the cover, go to the next set of programming instructions below). The Door Code in the Step-By-Step Procedure at right is determined by the internal code switches inside your transmitter and the accompanying chart. Determine the settings of the first 3 switches and write down the corresponding number from the chart. Continue with the next 3 switches and its corresponding number, and so on, until the last set of 3 switches. You should have 3 or 4 Door Code numbers. You can then print out a legible copy of the chart and the programming instructions from your word software. Proceed to step 2. Your PIN number can be created from any group of numbers up to 8 digits of your choice.Enter your PIN and Press “star” key. Your door should operate. Indicator light will blink once and go out. Check the 9 volt battery under the keypad numbers. To access, press inward, under the number pad lip while sliding downward to expose the battery. This small black button is located behind the light lens at the motor head and is nearest the floppy 6 inch antenna wire that protrudes from the power head. When pressed, a radio signal indicator will start blinking red for 30 seconds.

The learn button is sometimes located on the back of the unit, or with Excelerator openers, it is under the light lens near the hinge of the lens globe. Always locate the floppy antenna wire first. The Learn Button can be found not far from this antenna. See Troubleshooting Guides for Excelerator photo. You can then print out a legible copy of the chart and programming steps from your word software. Release the buttons. It is usually behind the light lens and close to the floppy antenna wire. If your Door Opener does not have an antenna, you have an External Receiver. The External Receiver cover must be removed to access the Learn Code button and the indicator LED. Follow Steps 1 through 3 outlined below: The red LED indicator light will start to blink. It will blink for up to 30 seconds. While it is blinking, proceed to Step 2. The Learn Code Indicator LED will stay on. The Learn Code indicator LED turns off. Wait until the Keypad backlight turns off (approximately 30 seconds). You can then print out a legible copy of the chart and programming steps from your word software. Works with Genie systems using Intellicode 1 and Intellicode 2 controls. Intellicode 2 refers to most units made in 2011 and 2012. It is usually behind the light lens and close to the floppy antenna wire. If your Door Opener does not have an antenna, you have an External Receiver. The External Receiver cover must be removed to access the Learn Code button and the indicator LED. The keypad should now be set to the new PIN. LEDs should blink PURPLE. Behind the receiver’s cover is a switch. Enter your PIN on the outside keypad, followed by the “star” button. Slide the receiver switch back to RUN. Test your PIN code followed by the star button. Test keypad. The smart indicator light will glow steadily for 30 seconds. Then press and hold the ENTER button. It has learned the code. If light bulbs are not installed, two clicks will be heard. Test keypad.
